If you've browsed through my site, or been at one of the marriages that I have officiated at, you've probably noticed that I'm not the typical marriage officer you may have previously met.

Oddly enough, many people worry more about planning the reception than they do the ceremony. However, the ceremony is the centre of the whole event. It is the ceremony where two individuals are married into one. It is the ceremony that marks the beginning of a new life together. It is the ceremony that is truly the main event, and it is the ceremony that will get talked about most by your guests.

Let's face it, weddings are usually expensive - and the marriage officer is actually one of the lowest costs of your special day. However, the marriage officer usually sets the tone for the rest of the day.

While most people believe my fees are reasonable, some are surprised by how "expensive" they are. But, if you reflect on the realities, it is not surprising. As a minister, I do not receive a salary from the church - and I also do not have the built-in "clientele" of the church membership. I also have the expenses of running a business. The officiant fees should be considered a small but very necessary part of the overall expense of the occasion.

I can offer much more than the basic services and tired old ceremonies that you get almost anywhere else. I put a significant amount of time, creativity and effort into every ceremony that I do.

Besides the initial consultation, I usually have have several follow-up telephone or email conversations with each couple. In some cases there is a rehearsal, where more details are worked out. Then there is the actual wedding ceremony, along with the official paperwork that must be submitted. I usually put in at least 5 to 10 hours of work for each couple that I marry.

While it may seem that I do more work at my desk per wedding than at the ceremony, there is a lot of work involved in ensuring that your ceremony is special, and I thoroughly enjoy every minute of it.

The experience and innovation that I bring to your ceremony will ensure that your dreams for your special day will be realised and enhanced. There is a lot riding on your choice of marriage officer, as your ceremony will be performed just once, live. In front of family and friends and forever captured by cameras and videos.

The couples who find me usually want originality and personalisation without the risk of their ceremony being hijacked by an officiant with his own agenda. They want full control over the ceremony script yet want it to still be memorable and practical.

They expect complete professionalism in all of my services including the provision of honest and straightforward advice at times. They want to draw energy and confidence from their dealings with me so that they can focus their attentions on other important issues.

From all of this will come the kind of emotionally involving wedding ceremony that most couples dream of - engaging, entertaining and eminently photogenic. I believe that this is why 99% of those who meet with me use me as their marriage officer.
